Stress is common as a student. After all, students are not just juggling school, they are juggling extracurriculars and other personal activities, making school something dreadful. Luckily, there are effective ways to deal with academic stress and anxiety when either arises.

Tip #1: Organize and Prioritize

Organizational skills are key in all areas of life, but especially in school. Knowing what you have to do for the day makes things easier, which can be done by using to-do lists, planners, etc. to keep track.

For large assignments, break them down into smaller sections to do over time rather than cramming it in one sitting.

Tip #2: Practice Self-care

Taking care of yourself physically and mentally is incredibly important. Make sure to get sufficient sleep, eat healthy, and do activities that you enjoy as much as possible. This ensures that you are ready to take on daily tasks with the appropriate energy. Remember to take breaks when needed to avoid burnout; even a five-minute break can make a difference.

Tip #3: Challenge Negative Thoughts

Having a positive mindset is key. Whenever you feel down or like you cannot do something, give yourself positive affirmations, whether you say them to yourself or write them on a sticky note. Replace anxious thoughts with realistic ones instead.

While stress is inevitable, by implementing and following these tips, you can significantly reduce how often it occurs and its impact on your daily life.
