Recently, Senator Bayer of Michigan spoke to Connect Me tutors and other attendees on a webinar, answering a multitude of questions about leadership and her tasks as a senator.
Rosemary Bayer is a Michigan senator who is serving in her second term. Through her job as senator, she has endorsed firearm safety legislation as well as cofounded the Michigan Council of Women in Technology, a program supporting young women in STEM. She comes from a leadership and service-oriented background. In her responses to questions, she detailed starting a high school blood drive while being quite introverted, emphasizing the importance of leadership, determination, and the satisfaction received from being able to serve others and solve issues in your community.
She also spoke about her role as senator and some of the tasks it entails, “I’m a person with a lot of things going on at one time… probably thirty pieces of legislation… The most important thing is a daily check-in the morning with myself”, she said while speaking about daily habits she completes to keep herself grounded.
A dedicated and diligent public servant, it was an honor for Connect Me to host Senator Bayer. Her responses were sincere and inspiring to those listening. Her words inspired young tutors, and people in general, to believe in the power they hold and the ability they have to make a difference.
