Connect Me recently hosted a LinkedIn/resumé workshop for members of its departments. I spoke with Aarav Shah, Connect Me’s external Vice President and the host of the workshop.

How was the planning of the workshop? How did you guys know that this was the topic you wanted to have for the workshop?

“Diksha [Lal] and I decided on LinkedIn/Resume Building since it was the first of a four part series on the most important professional development pieces that every high school and college student should know. Planning the webinar involved reaching out to potential speakers, creating a topic list, and confirming talking points with the speaker.”

How has LinkedIn helped you in the professional field?

“LinkedIn has helped me reach out to connections and learn about potential career paths. I was able to apply to internships through LinkedIn, and I had pretty good results in getting interviews from LinkedIn applications.”

What outcome did you hope for with the workshop and how do you feel it went?

“I was hoping that the attendees would be able to learn a little bit about building a resume and LinkedIn, especially since most of our leadership team consists of high schoolers. I didn’t have these resources back when I was in high school, and I could’ve benefitted a lot from it, and if the attendees could glean a little bit of information about what they should be doing in the future, I’d say the webinar would be a success. I think it went really well, and we got great feedback!”

Overall, the workshop was a success and it gave those who attended the workshop the opportunity to build a strong LinkedIn profile or continue adding to their existing profile, which is beneficial for future networking and internship opportunities.
