Marie Kondo is a popular Japanese organizing consultant known for her books on organization and her TV shows. She’s become a TV personality because of how she’s helped people around the world improve their homes through the art of organization.

In this article, we’ll go over how you can be your own Marie Kondo and organize your life, turning it to the life of your dreams.

What is organization?

Organization is the ability to keep track of things, stay on top of things, and live a calm, peaceful, orderly life. To be organized is to be able to keep things in control but to also understand that there are things out of your control that you will have to learn to adjust to and live with.

When you understand the basics of organization and how you can lead a more organized life, you can better turn into your own Marie Kondo. Just because the life you lead now is messy does not mean that you cannot change that.

How can you stay organized?

With that being said, how can you stay organized? Here are a few tips you should follow.

  • List down your goals.

When you list down your goals, you can envision the things you want to accomplish and the steps you need to take to accomplish them. Having a list of these achievable goals will help you further organize your life.

  • Create a to-do list.

At the start of each day or the day before, write down the things you need to do. Whether that be chores or homework, write them all down and make sure to set a time to accomplish each task. It would help to list them down according to priority.

  • Set a routine.

Most routines you’ll find online are ones that require you to wake up at the break of dawn, eat the smallest portions of food, workout x amount of times a day, and go to bed at an early hour. If this routine works for you, go ahead and follow it but, for most people, this routine is unrealistic.

Do not be fooled by the influencers online that make you believe that having the it girl routine is the only way you can thrive. A routine is something you must be able to do on a daily basis. With this said, create one that you can follow and one that you find achievable.

Organization is not as hard as you think it is. In fact, your life right now to others might seem messy but as long as you’re in control, as long as you know what you’re doing, and as long as you’re achieving the goals you’ve set for yourself, you already have an organized life.
